  1. Duolingo’s IPO pricing is great news for edtech startups. The language-learning unicorn is poised to launch their IPO at $102 per share.

  2. China unveiled a sweeping overhaul of its $100 billion education tech sector, banning companies that teach the school curriculum from making profits, raising capital or going public. Further reading >

  3. Class raises $105 million in Series B funding. Already used in 20 countries outside the U.S., and which serves both K-12 and higher education classes, adds functions like quizzes, “focus tracking” and analytics when running class sessions through Zoom.

  4. Blackboard launches Center for Advancing Learning to address education policy. The center will explore best practices and new approaches and some of its research is intended to target legislation.

  5. Textbook Publisher Pearson Bets Big on Online Learning. The publisher is looking to move towards a Netflix model with access to 1,500 titles for $14.99 a month.
